Clinical and Epidemiological Aspects of People with Mental Disorders in The Mental Health Service at The Bougouni Reference Health Center, 2024

Introduction In the town of Bougouni, it is not uncommon to encounter people with mental health disorders, and this is also true at the mental health service of the Bougouni Reference Health Center (CSRéf).The objective of our study was to analyze the clinical and epidemiological aspects of people with mental disorders treated in the mental health department of the CSRéf of Bougouni from January 1 to December 31, 2023.

Materials and Methods We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study. During our study period, we were able to exploit 160 files and 96.25% of our patients were new contacts.

Results The majority of our patients were male (61%), the most affected age groups were 22 to 32 years and 12 to 22 years, i.e. 38% and 26% respectively.The minimum age was 12 years, the maximum was 86 years, the mode was 27 years. The majority of patients suffered from depression, 46.88%; but schizophrenia represented 14.38%.

Conclusion These results prove that this service is in demand, hence the need to strengthen it in human and material resources for effective support of its users.
